How could a work dedicated to Christmas be missing? Yet Schenetti's work deviates from any conventional image: it does not offer us the typical colors of the holidays, nor the atmosphere of a winter postcard. It is a Christmas with unusual tones, which opens up to different worlds, to latitudes where snow is not the protagonist and where Christmas traditions take on different shapes and colours.
In the foreground, three men, with their backs turned, observe the scene from afar. Their posture speaks of concentration, listening, respect: they seem to be attentive witnesses of this "other" Christmas, far from stereotypes. Their figures evoke the idea of contemporary shepherds, tasked with bringing the good news to today's world, a world made of cultural plurality and intertwining stories.
Clò's Christmas is made in oil, with figures that overlap through the use of paper, creating a visual game of stratifications and depth. Once again the artist Schenetti demonstrates his ability to surprise, to offer a new look even on such a familiar theme.
His is a universal wish: a "Merry Christmas" ideally expressed in all the languages of the world, addressed to anyone who observes and chooses to let this vision pass through them.
