Living a long time in a narrow space might be almost impossible, but we are living it. The search for a new space to refer to in order to avoid anguish and existential crises is difficult, you need to have things to do, an articulated and daily program to overcome the neurosis of an eternal waiting.
In a surreal time, like the one we are living in, art helps to look at the empty and silent square as a different future and as an expectation of a better time and space. A hope that we cannot leave out.
Many artists, each with their own tools, are giving life to works that gather time-wide in this narrow space. Cristina Roncati, a Modenese artist, is creating numerous sculptures that collect her thoughts on this time-space theme. They are people, women, who, covered in every part, live the narrow space, expanding the thought for a new mental space.
The sculptures are polymaterial wrapped in draping movements typical of the art of Cristina Roncati.
The material is recycled since they are made in this time of tight space where it is not possible to have other matter than the one you already have.
Another artist who is creating space-time works is Maria Clotilde Schenetti of Sassuolo who has enclosed the large time in a narrow box and has placed the space outside. A space that we can often see now only through digital tools or imagine. Since any real journey is closed to us, Clotilde offers it to us through painting. A cheerful and lively skilful painting.
Like Roncati, she also used old boxes she had at home.
